
Sharon left her successful career as a CPA in 1999 for the world of interior design. Apprenticing with two interior design firms while pursuing her design education provided a solid foundation for starting her own firm. Sharon formed Sharon McCormick Design, LLC upon graduating from Paier College of Art in 2002, where she won the Outstanding Achievement in Design Award for her graduating class. She also has a B.A. in psychology from Williams College and an M.B.A. from Western New England College. In 2010, Sharon was voted "Greater Hartford's Best Interior Designer" by the readers of Hartford Magazine.
Sharon is an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), for which she is a National Spokesperson, and has also completed the National Leadership program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Sharon McCormick Design, LLC is a member of the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), International Furnishings and Design Association, Home Builders Association of CT, and the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce. Sharon is a member of The Circle of Red, an elite group of women who have the influence to significantly impact the community by empowering women to take charge of their heart health. Sharon McCormick Design, LLC will be designing the stage set for the 2011 Go Red for Women Luncheon.
Sharon's work has been featured in many publications, including the cover of Connecticut Home and Garden, Country Sampler Decorating Ideas, Distinctive Kitchen and Baths, Natural Home, Home Living Connecticut, Ridgefield Magazine, Fairfield County Homes, and The Hartford Courant. She is interviewed frequently for various newspapers and websites, including the Associated Press, BobVila.com, and HomeFurnishings.com. Her work is featured in Spectacular Homes of New England, a book published by Panache Partners in May 2007. She is a past a member of the "Room for Improvement" design team for NBC Channel 7 News in Boston, MA.
In 2010, Sharon designed the "Gold, Silver, Champagne, & Pearls Living Room" for Spaces & Places, a benefit for the Hartford Preservation Alliance. In 2009, Sharon designed the "Romantic Master Bedroom" for the prestigious Junior League of Hartford Showhouse. She designed the "Elegant Glamour Powder Room" for the Junior League of Hartford Showhouse 2006, and the family room for the Kinderwood Designer Showhouse 2005, which was held in Ridgefield, CT. She participated in the Guilford Shoreline Foundation Showhouse (2002) and the YWCA Lyman Homestead Showhouse (2000).
